Earth B.E.A.T. (Basic Environmental Awareness Training)
Teach Students Environmental Stewardship
Earth B.E.A.T. fosters a greater appreciation for our local environment and inspires youth to become responsible caretakers of the earth. Students gain insight into their intimate connection to the web of life and become empowered with simple steps they can take to preserve our precious natural resources. This unique program for elementary and middle schools involves students in engaging, interactive activities that inspire a love of learning. Here’s what two of our school partners recently said:
“I love teaching the kids about respecting our environment and having fun while learning”
“I enjoyed seeing my students involved and active in their learning and making connections with their prior knowledge”
Tailor a Program to Fit your Needs
Your Earth B.E.A.T. can be one or two days and can involve a couple of grades or the entire student body. You can choose the number of Eco-Stations each student will visit. Several Eco-Stations call for groups of 10 or 12, while others work best with a whole class. Eco-Stations require 20 – 30 minutes each.
Keep Rockland Beautiful trains teachers and parents as Eco-Station facilitators, supplies Eco-Station materials, and assists schools with event coordination to ensure a successful event.
KRB can also help you plan a morning Kick-Off or afternoon Wrap-Up assembly, show a video clip, bring in music, or involve students in a presentation. The assembly can be used to launch a school-wide initiative such as recycling PET bottles in the cafeteria, conducting an energy audit, or participating in the Great American Cleanup. A number of schools have also incorporated student art or science projects into the event.
Download the EarthBEAT Eco-Stations activity packet (PDF, 13.4MB, 111 pages) As this is a large document, please select and print only the pages needed for the activities you have chosen.
